Dunlap is located at the intersection of State Highways 30 & 37, 20 miles west of Denison, 25 miles east of Missouri Valley, 60 miles north east of Omaha and the airport, bus station and all forms of major transportation. The population of Dunlap is 1139 (2000 census).

The form of government in Dunlap is Mayor/Council and all are elected to serve terms of four (4) years.
